March 22-- March 26

I'm sitting at the front desk now:)

For this week on Monday, I firstly installed Spore (Galactic Adventures) software on new PC computers in the lab as requested by Yeonjeong. It surprised me that the software can only be installed in 5 computers because of the authorization issue.

At the same time this week, I am still working on the ActivExpression (Clicker)of our Promethean board. Besides listing the ActivExpression's basic functions, I also added a detailed overview, technical secifications, general secifications, and minimum computer requirements. Instead of listing long text here, I have it uploaded and you can click this following link:

March 15 -- March 19

For this week, all the lab GAs had a meeting on Monday so that I am clearer of my work and responsibility for this semester.

Three major sections of this semester's work: (1) a brief document about clickers (based on the activity that he performed before);(2) search the websites of Smartboard web site and Promethean web site to compare Smartboard and Promethean; (3) Using Flash to help the final projects in David's project.

For this week, I started reading literature and learning more functions of the clickers of promethean in the lab.

As an ultimate collaborative learning tool, ActivExpression (clicker) allows students to express themselves through Words, phrases, numbers, symbols and punctuation and students can send up to 120 characters each time. The response types include Multiple Choice, True/False, Y/N, Multiple Response, Put in Order, Gap Fill words, Likert scales, Confidence Checking & Alphanumeric response. Questions and results can be exported to Excel. Self-paced learning feature also greatly encourages students to work at their own pace and level.

At the same time, I also found that in the self-paced learning, questions and results cannot be exported. Also, by consulting the customer service, I realized that we cannot assign mixed questions such as multiple choice questions with open questions, which is quite disappointing.

Up to Friday, I have also updated all the Mac laptop computers from no.13 to the end following the procedures described by Yeonjeong.

I also searched for several literature to help prepare the AECT proposal due this Friday.
